Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls for establishing Equal Predictable Relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation
"Firstly, the principle of equality is necessary. Secondly, the general content of relations shall be discussed, as the general approaches are being settled in specific terms", - V.Lytvyn stated at the press conference in the city of Sevastopol.
The Head of the Parliament believes that the countries shall not establish predictable relations in any area of cooperation, including gas sphere, unless "the system of relations with the Russian Federation is developed".
V.Lytvyn stressed that "Ukraine and Russia shall naturally develop special relations", taking into account the stand of the European community. The Head of the Parliament stated that the representatives of the European institutions demonstrated pragmatism and stressed the necessity of stable and predictable relations between Ukraine and Russia.
V.Lytvyn stated that Ukraine "can not demonstrate pragmatism" regarding the Black Sea Fleet. "I would prohibit the politicians to discuss those topics they use to attain their declared goals", - he stated.
"If we do not know how the relations concerning the Black Sea Fleet shall be developed, we´d rather keep silence till 2017. New politicians shall come and find new approaches", - V.Lytvyn stated. I believe that present-day politicians shall not settle this matter till 2017".
The Head of the Parliament stated that Ukraine and Russia shall compare the stands on this issue, taking into account strategic security, law and order, and economic development.
